Day 11 in Thailand (Common Art-Based Business Pricing Pitfalls) So many of the issues we have with pricing stems from our own insecurities about money. This is a cultural thing, and it’s not easy to see at first. Though once we do, we realize that our biggest stumbling block was ourselves and our false beliefs. The other big problem I’ve found with pricing is we all forget what it was like before we could “DO” the “Thing.” It’s important to remember that most of the time we are selling our work, ideas, process, and skills to people that CAN NOT do what we do. As a result, we need to keep in mind that we are not our customers! Work on seeing what you do from their point of view, they are coming to you to be “The Answer”. Answers take skills, and skills take time and money to acquire. That’s why we can make money with what we know. Just because we think it’s easy, or have insecurities about our work, doesn’t mean anyone else does. Keep in mind that we are solving our customers problems.
